Microsoft Azure audit: cost, risk and resilience

Azure mixes subscriptions, resource groups and Entra ID. Without regular audits, blind spots grow: forgotten VMs, orphan disks, open NSGs, over-privileged accounts.

Cloud Inspector applies the same multi-cloud audit grid on Azure as on AWS, GCP, OVHcloud and Scaleway — one language for IT, FinOps and security.

Access is read-only. If write permissions are detected, the audit does not start.

The Azure report lists each finding with resource, rationale, priority and recommended action.

Sample Azure checks

  • Idle or oversized virtual machines
  • Unattached disks and unused public IPs
  • Publicly exposed storage or services
  • Overly permissive network rules (NSG)
  • High-privilege identities
  • Missing backups and near-expiry certificates

Why audit Azure inside a multi-cloud tool?

Many organisations run Azure with AWS, GCP or a European cloud. An Azure-only view cannot prioritise at company level. Cloud Inspector normalises findings so you can decide.
